Seismic Resistance and Shear Resistance Review and Evaluation of Reinforced Concrete Eccentric Beam-to-Column Connections
Confirming seismic performance of eccentric beam-column joints to inform practice
In order to ensure safety, this study investigates resistance to seismic and shear forces of eccentric beam-column connections. Through large-scale structural experiments on reinforced concrete beam-column connections in various degrees of eccentricity, and by examining shear strength attenuation levels at these connections, the study aims to expand on past literature, and to serve as a reference for standards reviews, so that design and construction teams are informed and buildings are resilient enough to protect lives and livelihoods.
